WELLSPRING ACADEMY NEWSLETTER

The vision of Wellspring Academy is to produce a new generation of servant leaders to bless Rwanda and display the best of Rwanda to the world.

March 20, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians of the Wellspring Academy,

The purpose of the newsletter is to provide important updates and information to parents in order to inform and communicate various aspects of Wellspring Academy life.

Open House

Last Saturday, Wellspring Academy opened its doors to hundreds of parents.  It was a great day full of traditional dancing, information updates, various class activities, and much more.  Classrooms were full of science experiments, games, demonstrations, and many more examples of daily life at the Wellspring Academy.  Thank you for coming.  Parental involvement is absolutely essential to student success and seeing so many parents proved that Wellspring's community is vibrant and caring.

Exams
This week, all students from Foundation to Grade 9 & Grade 11 will be participating in class exams.  Please see the Term 2 Exam Timetable. This document will give you a better understanding, so that you can assist with preparing your child.  Encourage your child to revise and review the material covered in Term 2.  It is very important to give your child enough time, adequate space, and support where needed during this time.

Sports Teams

Did you know that Wellspring Academy has great sports teams?  If not, you are in for a surprise.  Currently, the boys and girls basketball teams have both qualified for the final championship, which is scheduled for March 30th at 3:45pm at Wellspring Academy.  Come cheer on the girls and boys teams.

Every Saturday morning at the Wellspring Academy, the lower football field is a full of activity.  Teams from around the district come and play against each other.  Come out and support your child play or come and cheer on Wellspring's teams.

Thursday, March 30th
3:45pm Grade 7,8 & 9 Boys & Girls Basketball Championship

Parent Communication

As a staff, we continually desire to move from "strong to superb."  Last August, September and October, we hosted parent meetings, and also many discussions with teachers.  An aspect that came through in the meetings was to improve our parent communication and engagement.  We have implemented many things so far.

We want all parents to sign up to receive Remind updates from the school.  Please, click on this simple link simple and give your name, email (NOT PHONE NUMBER), password, and click on "Sign Up" and you are registered.  If you download the application called "Remind" on your phone, you can receive messages directly on your smartphone or you may receive them through email.  Please click on this link to register.

Class Tours

A few weeks ago, Wellspring students engaged in Class Tours.  Some of the places that students visited were Gisenyi, the King's Palace, National Museum, Nyirangarama, Gako organic farm, Kimironko (Umuco Mwiza School), Nyarugenge, Huye, Kibuye, Karongi, and Rwamagana.  We thank God that everyone had a great time and returned back to the school safely.  The Wellspring students nearly covered all four corners of Rwanda in one day!
