Students from Worsley Central School participating in the CARS Program delivered by Inside Education and PRAMP

CARS Program for Clean Air
PRAMP has partnered with Inside Education to offer a no-cost clean air education program to local schools.

The CARS: Clean Air Responsible Schools Program develops understanding about air quality, emissions and climate change. With an emphasis on personal action and citizen science, this class-based project engages young students in local stewardship action.

Approximately 200 students from the following local schools are participating in the program: Savanna School (Silver Valley), Worsley Central School, École Routhier School (Falher), Good Shepherd School (Peace River), and Lloyd Garrison School (Berwyn).

“The CARS program is a great way for us to inspire and engage students around air quality and climate change,” says Steve McIsaac, Inside Education executive director.

As part of the program, students have the opportunity to monitor air quality in their schoolyards with a hand-held AirBeam monitoring device and contribute their data to a worldwide citizen science campaign.

As a culminating activity of the program, each class/school is encouraged to implement an education campaign in their school to share the knowledge they gained while studying climate change and local air quality.

Reaching school-aged children is an important opportunity for PRAMP to help our community understand the importance of healthy air and how PRAMP is monitoring and assessing local air quality everyday.
