Hi <<First Name>>.

We wanted to reach out today to provide some information regarding the coronavirus. As of today (Friday) there are 47 presumptive positive cases in New Jersey, and 3 in Morris County.

First, we wanted to note that over the past three years we have been building not just a political party but a community here in Harding. This is the time for that community to come together. If you or anyone you know is facing challenges, please do not hesitate to reach out to us or to each other. We'd like to encourage all of you to check on each other as well, especially if you suspect anyone might be struggling.

Second, we are preparing as an organization to operate remotely as long as necessary. Last night we held a meeting that had a remote option for attendance that worked quite well. Our next meeting will be Thursday, April 16th at 7:30 PM. We are prepared to have that meeting be entirely remote if necessary, with options to use a computer or a phone to join. We will send more information about that as the date draws closer.

Information

Below are some links and information that we hope will be of use. Please forward this on to anyone who might need it.
  • Harding Township School is closed from March 16th to March 27th. You can read the letter about this decision here.
  • Morristown Medical Center is taking proactive steps to prepare for an outbreak if it occurs. You can read about that here.
  • The New Jersey Department of Health has a "COVID-19" dashboard available here. The dashboard tracks positive cases in NJ by county.
  • A hotline has been set up to answer questions and concerns. The numbers are 1-800-222-1222 and 1-800-962-1253.
  • You can watch Governor Murphy's Friday update on COVID-19 here
  • Advised precautions:
    • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, as often as possible
    • Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, mouth, and nose
    • Practice "social distancing," which includes staying at least six feet away from others and avoiding unnecessary social situations
    • Clean frequently touched surfaces
    • Stay home if you are sick
Above all, now is not the time to panic. Let's all work together as a community to "flatten the curve" and, especially, to support each other!
