DATA MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (DMC)
NWCG Standards for Geospatial Operations (GeoOps), PMS 936, and NWCG Geographic Information System Specialist (GISS) Workflow, PMS 936-1
The GeoOps establishes the standards associated with the GISS role. The GISS Workflow is a supporting document for the GeoOps and establishes the process a GISS follows on assignment. It contains all the instructional materials needed to implement GeoOps.  The GeoOps provides the what and the GISS Workflow provides the how of geospatial operations.
Top 3 GeoOps updates:
  • Symbology updates for visibility and readability, primarily based on user feedback
  • Updated  GeoOps Incident Directory Structure folder template (zip) and new file naming standard for Web Maps, Mobile Maps, and User-Facing Apps
  • Event schema updates in the National Incident Feature Service (NIFS)

National Wildfire Coordinating Group
Our mission is to provide national leadership to enable interoperable wildland fire operations among federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial partners.  NWCG operations standards are interagency by design; they are developed with the intent of universal adoption by the member agencies.  However, the decision to adopt and utilize them is made independently by the individual member agencies and communicated through their respective directives systems.
