This Week of Remembrance is dedicated to those who have fallen in the line of duty and is intended to renew our commitment the health, wellness, and safety of wildland firefighters.

We encourage you to make a commitment to remember, reflect on, and discuss lessons learned from the past, and to seek opportunities to apply those lessons.

The following are ways to honor through learning:
  • Use the materials provided in the seven safety messages as a foundation for respectful dialogue and discussion;
  • Utilize the resources linked at the bottom of each topic to broaden your knowledge and level of understanding;
  • Consider taking a Moment for Remembrance at some point during the week.

Our mission is to provide national leadership to enable interoperable wildland fire operations among federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial partners.  NWCG operations standards are interagency by design; they are developed with the intent of universal adoption by the member agencies.  However, the decision to adopt and utilize them is made independently by the individual member agencies and communicated through their respective directives systems.
