The updated NWCG training course S-190, Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior, is now available on the NWCG website. The update includes content changes based on subject matter expert input and conversion to the new NWCG course template. The IRPG, available for order at https://www.nwcg.gov/catalogs-ordering-quicklinks , now serves as the student workbook; all other instructor and student materials may be downloaded from the website.

An update of the self-directed (online) version of the course will be available in the near future. A Spanish translation is also in progress.

Our mission is to provide national leadership to enable interoperable wildland fire operations among federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial partners. NWCG operations standards are interagency by design; they are developed with the intent of universal adoption by the member agencies. However, the decision to adopt and utilize them is made independently by the individual member agencies and communicated through their respective directives systems.
