Looking for a Good Book?
The Podcast Dedicated to Helping Book Lovers Discover New Authors

Welcome to The Bookshop at the End of the Internet

MARCH 2020

In this month's newsletter, some of the authors who have appeared on our podcast are sharing their book recommendations. Enjoy!

Bookshop Author Evelyne Holingue

Episode #009
Since Evelyne Holingue appeared on the podcast and discussed her YA novel, All the Mountains We Can Climb, she has published a new book, Chez Moi in the USA. It is a compilation of true stories and essays originally published on her blog over the span of ten years. This book tells Evelyne's journey as an immigrant who acquired a new language and culture as an adult, mostly through her children and her avid reading. Ultimately, she was able to write fiction and nonfiction in her nonnative language, something she never considered when she left France for the USA.

Here are Evelyne Holingue's book recommendations this month:
Book by someone not yet on the best seller lists (but should be!):
You May Just Be a Dinosaur by Heather Macht

A book I find myself recommending to people, for its timeless reflection on girlhood:
The Burning Girl by Claire Messud
Favorite Book (with a French twist):
Emile Zola's saga Les Rougon Macquard (20 novels written between 1870 and 1893)

If you like my books, you may also want to check out:
Any of the wonderful books by Sarah Dessen

Bookshop Author R.L. McDaniel

Episode #006
R.L. McDaniel is the author of the dystopian/science fiction Levitation series for young adults (and, frankly, readers of all ages), which he discusses in his podcast interview. The series is now complete, and R.L. recommends new readers begin with Book 1, Levitation, and read the books in order.

Here are R.L. McDaniel's book recommendations this month:
Book by someone not yet on the best seller lists (but should be!):
Anson and Iris: The Dead Files (Vol. 1) by Daniel Parker

If you like my books, you may also want to check out:
Scythe by Neal Shusterman
Favorite Book (and the reason he wanted to become a writer):
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

A book I find myself recommending to people, for all sorts of reasons:
Bloody Jack (Book 1) by L.A. Meyer
