Is This Your Quote Of The Year 2018?
'I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.  I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live.  Life is no “brief candle” for me.  It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for a moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible, before handing it on to future generations. '

Time of Birak and Bunuru in the Nyungar calendar influence ways of life for Noongar people in the past and today. Historically during the first and second summers, the Noongar people would move towards the coast to fish and took advantage of wildfires to flush out animals such as possums, wallabies and snakes. Trees of importance to Noongar people at this time included the Mudja ChristmasTree, the yellow banksia used to make Mungitch and both the Tuart and Bull Banksia flowers, also used for their nectar.
