We had an amazing time at our Valentine's themed Cake & Coffee which took place on February 2nd. It was nice to be able to have our Volunteers all in the same room. Along with the VFVV Volunteers we also had the Director of Oak Park and staff as well as Oak Park residents stop by to join us. We are looking forward to doing it again next year.
From the President's Desk...
In January, I accepted the position of Board President for Village Friends whose mission I believe in completely. Serving now for only 2 months in this capacity, I have become aware of the importance of the job and its magnitude. Fortunately, the groundwork for this incredibly progressive non-profit was established by the founding Board Members in 2012 when Joanna Hoit was President.

Judy McGaha, past President from 2014 – 2017, positioned this organization to fulfill its promise to our subscribers/members. I plan to strengthen that promise through solid financial oversight, strategic planning, fundraising and community awareness. I work with an active Board of Directors who will ensure we stay focused on our mission.

Our Board of Directors for 2018 are:  Jim Disque - Vice President, Theresa O’Donnell - Secretary, Billy Kennedy - Treasurer, Dan Schnittka - Technology, Mary Burkhart - Olli Connection, Joe Harrington, and Judy McGaha . Latasha Durr is our Chief of Operations and the heart and soul of Village Friends connecting service requests with our amazing Volunteers. We all share the goal of increasing community awareness in Auburn/Opelika.

As we grow, I will be calling on you to help with committees, planning, implementing programs of interests, promoting our ideals, publishing, marketing, etc. After all...It Takes a Village.

- Martha Shepherd, President of Village Friends
