Merry Christmas!

The Christmas season is an exciting time of the year. I always look forward to celebrating the holiday with my friends and family. In addition to the traditions we share with our family and friends, there are a host of celebrations across the 12th Senate District to enjoy the Christmas holiday.

Last week, I had the chance to attend an early Christmas celebration in Madison with my family. My wife, oldest daughter, and I attended the Governor's Annual Christmas Party at the Governor's Mansion here in Madison. This year, the exterior of the Governor's Mansion was decorated by JJ's Acres of Woodruff. Congratulations and great job!

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!
My Wife, Chris, and my daughter, Karlyn, joined me at the Governor's Mansion for the Governor's Annual Christmas Party.

Rebecca Deschane

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and the University of Wisconsin-System have announced the creation of a new position that will lead and coordinate statewide efforts to attract and retain talent for both organizations. The position will be referred to as the Talent Initiatives Director. The first person to hold this position will be Rebecca Deschane.

Rebecca Deschane, a graduate of Crivitz High School, has been serving the citizens of Wisconsin in various roles since she graduated from college. Throughout her career, Rebecca's main focus has been on economic development. She has a history of working with businesses across our state to address the needs of Wisconsin's workforce.

Since 2011, Rebecca has been serving as a liaison between the legislature and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. I believe that this will be a great opportunity for Rebecca to continue working with business partners across our state to ensure that we are attracting and retaining the highest quality of talent in our workforce. Congratulations Rebecca!
Public Land Maps

The third edition of the Public Access Lands atlas has just been released. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) compiles an atlas that includes all properties owned by the Wisconsin DNR, county governments, and the federal government.

You can download and print the maps included in the atlas online for free. You can also purchase a hard copy of the atlas which includes 441 different maps online at the University Book Store. There is also a separate atlas available for purchase that includes separate maps for each of Wisconsin's 72 counties.

In addition to ordering the atlas online, you can mail a check with this order form to the University Book Store or you can call 1-800-993-2665 ext. 5929. When calling, make sure to mention the atlas' item number: 099127660.
Oconto County Board Members

Two of Oconto County's longest serving county board members have announced that they will be retiring at the end of their term. Lee Rymer and Bill Grady will be completing their service to Oconto County at the conclusion of their current terms, in April.

Lee, up until the last county board meeting, was the County Board Chairperson. He has been in that role since 1998. Lee was first elected in 1986 and is currently the longest serving county board member. Lee represents parts of Oconto Falls. Bill Grady, also of Oconto Falls, has served on the county board for 13 two-year terms. Bill has long served as the chair for the Public Property Committee.

Thank you to both Lee and Bill for their service and dedication to Oconto County. Best wishes to both of them in their retirement.
