An annual festival honoring the history and heritage of Greenwich Village

Dear Friends,

Once again, many thanks to all of you for supporting The Village Trip: to those who donated, those who sponsored us, in cash and in kind; and to all those who came to experience the festival, which took place under bright blue September skies.
And thank you of course to everyone who performed and who made it all happen: speakers on social justice, novelists, poets, and a roll-call of wonderful musicians from across the musical spectrum.

The first Village Trip was a novelty. The second proved that it really can be done and the festival was embraced and supported by a growing group of local civic and business organisations and businesses. Andrew Berman, Executive Director of Village Preservation, spoke for many when he commented after the festival:

“As a partner, we at Village Preservation appreciate how The Village Trip’s work supports and celebrates Greenwich Village, while also enticing a broader audience into the neighborhood.”
In the three months since TVT2019, many people have been in contact to say they want to help make The Village Trip 2020 happen.

Our plan is to spread the events over the course of a week, beginning on Sunday, probably at The Bitter End, and concluding the following Saturday in Washington Square Park for the free concert, which this year was headlined by Steve Earle. Feedback suggests that weekday afternoons and evenings are the best times to present talks and discussions, and also children’s events. Dates will be announced as soon as we have the Park permit but we’re aiming for September 20 – 26.

David Amram, Village Trip Artist Emeritus, said:

“The possibilities for this festival are limitless and make it feasible for it to become an international event.”

He eloquently summed up its mission:

“To uplift, to entertain and to celebrate the arts for all New Yorkers and their families and all people from around the world who come to visit New York City’s special oasis, Greenwich Village.”
If you’d like to be involved – as a sponsor or a donor, or if you’d like to share your expertise – please visit www.thevillagetrip.com or contact us at info@TheVillageTrip.com  You can also sign up as a volunteer or as a partner. We look forward to hearing from you.

With many thanks and all good wishes for the coming holidays.
