The Village Trip: Please turn on images
An annual festival honoring the history and heritage of Greenwich Village
Dear Friends,

The Village Trip 2019 launches today, Thursday September 26, and you are receiving this email because you signed up as a Friend of The Village Trip to receive news and updates of our progress and events. Many of you will have attended our inaugural festival, and some of you have been kind enough simply to support The Village Trip from afar. To all of you, many thanks for supporting our Greenwich Village endeavour.

The Village Trip's Hootenanny Concert

& Salute to Izzy YoungYoung
Thursday, September 26 at 7:30pm

TVT 2019 kicks of Thursday evening with a spectacular line-up at the legendary The Bitter End on Bleecker Street. Hosted by Tom Chapin and featuring six-times Blues Music Awards-winner Rory Block with Martha Redbone, Diana Jones, David Massengill, and TVT Artist Emeritus David Amram, it is a celebration of the life and legacy of Izzy Young, who died earlier this year. A key figure in the New York folk scene of the 1950s and ‘60s, he helped to launch the careers of numerous musicians and fought for the right to make music in Washington Square Park. Tickets for this very special evening are selling fast so book yours now to avoid disappointment on the door!

There's also an unmissable performance of David Amram's Greenwich Village inspired chamber music by Elmira Darvarova (violin), Howard Wall (French Horn) and Thomas Weaver (piano). They will perform a program that includes Blues for Monk at 1pm on Saturday at St John's in the Village.  David is a true polymath and he has worked with figures from across the musical spectrum and been composer in residence for Leonard Bernstein and Joseph Papp. His film scores include Pull My Daisy and The Manchurian Candidate.

There's much more - including an all-star jazz session at the New School, and cabaret at Joe's Pub. And of course there's Bringing It All Back Home to Washington Square, a free concert in the Washington Square Park headlined by the great Steve Earle with Marc Ribot, The Tall Pines, and special guests.

The sun is going to shine so how better to spend the last few days of September than hanging out in the Village!

To keep you fed and watered, there's a mouthwatering offer at North Square Restaurant in the historic Washington Square Hotel - a juicy sirloin burger and fries plus a special Village Trip Cocktail based on Bob Dylan's Heaven's Door whiskey. All for $26.! And you can take advantage of a 25% discount on all purchases at Village Music World from now to Halloween. You can't afford not to be there! Get tripping!

For more details check out the website and share it with your friends. Spread the word – or as they put it in 1969, share the love!

We look forward to seeing you at The Village Trip. Once again, many thanks for your support and interest.
