Dear Portlander,

Last week, Commissioner Dan Ryan and I announced 5 resolutions we co-sponsored that focus on a series of projects and plans to fast-track construction of affordable housing and move homeless Portlanders closer to services.

These five resolutions are coming before City Council for a first reading this week and I want to hear from you.

Mayor Ted Wheeler unveils his full plan to tackle homelessness; additional resolutions to come next

There is no issue more critical to Portlanders than addressing homelessness. I am confident that the plan we’re working toward will save lives and livelihoods for all Portlanders, housed and unhoused.

Those Portlanders who are unhoused and, on the streets, deserve our understanding, compassion, and help. The goal should be to connect people to whatever services they need to get off and stay off the streets.

I look forward to hearing from you.
