What's been happening at Voop?
It's been a bumper month at Voop.Global with plans well and truly in place to see us get to revenue generating. I applied to join the RMIT University accelerator program called LaunchHUB, and was thrilled to get through to the final round and be invited in for an interview. I completed both my undergraduate and post graduate studies at RMIT so have a really strong affiliation with the university. RMIT is best known for Technology, Design and Enterprise so I see it as the perfect match for me and for Voop.Global.
I went in to RMIT Activator on Tuesday for my interview. The space is amazing and the resources available to participants are even more amazing. The twelve-week program offers masterclasses, mentoring and coaching, opportunities for funding, networking and workshops.
I was interviewed by a panel of three; the Startup Coach, Head of Startups and Startup Program Coordinator. Beforehand, we'd been provided with clear guidelines on what they would like included in a presentation which would kick of the interview. Slides were optional but I went with a pack that ended up a lot wordier than I would usually use. The reason for this is because the team wanted to ensure we'd clearly addressed LaunchHUBs selection criteria.
The panel said they liked that my presentation clearly articulated what Voop.Global planned to achieve whilst on the program as well as our 'ask' from them. They said that at times the program could become a distraction with so much on offer. Participants really have to be clear on what they want to get out of it.
After the 5-minute presentation there was 15 minutes of questions. The questions weren't particularly curly, nor did they seem designed to trip me up. Rather they demonstrated the panel's interest and desire to know more. Questions asked were on the market we are targeting, who our competitors are, the Voop.Global business model, how the tool works and our commitment to LaunchHUB, should we be successful. I'd cut a few things out of the presentation because the trial run was too long by 2 minutes (I'm glad I did this as they were going to cut me off if I ran over). It worked out well though as everything I cut out, I was able to share when responding to questions.
I'm thrilled to say that the following day Voop.Global was offered a place in the program!
I'm incredibly excited about joining LaunchHUB and feel like this is the perfect time for Voop.Global. We are ready to race towards our MVP and it feels amazing to have the support of RMIT University behind us.

The program starts on 25 March so I'll look forward to updating you on progress in April!
All the very best for the month ahead.
