St. Louis AIHA Members,
Thanks to those of you who made it out to the local section meeting yesterday.  It was nice seeing the engagement of the audience with the speaker.  Supporting our recent graduates and current students is important.  For those of you who missed it, Morgan Buerky, a recent UCM graduate, presented on her graduate research project “Chemical Assessment in the Environmental Air from a Lab Sample Dump Station”.  Thank you Morgan!!!
Next month, February 13, Dr. Fernando Serrano from St. Louis University will be presenting on “Science, Advocacy, and Policy Change: The Case of La Oroya, Peru”.

Summary:  In 2004, Dr. Serrano received an urgent request from a community organization to conduct a study to measure toxic metals in the residents of La Oroya, Peru, a city affected by environmental contamination produced by the La Oroya smelting complex that is a sister complex to that of Doe Run in the Saint Louis area.  Register today for this event.  February Luncheon Registration
Prior to our meeting we had a short board meeting to discuss the Annual PDC that will be at Ameren on March 2.  If you have not registered, please note that registration is open and early bird registration ends on February 2, 2019.  We are still working to outline our speakers for the PDC, but we promise to bring you an exiting variety of topics.  Here is the link for the PDC Registration .  Additionally, we discussed changing the date of our monthly luncheons.  Starting in May we would like to start meeting on the fourth Thursday of the month.  We would like your opinion on this change.  Please provide us with your thoughts at the following link AIHA Meeting Date Survey.
