Kia ora whanau,
What an eventful term it has been. Often people think schools “slow down” towards the end of a term, but here at Mercury Bay our staff and students have been giving it their all right to the end.
12 students left on Saturday night for Japan. Already they have experienced the bullet train, seen cherry blossoms and I imagine had a few “food adventures” as well! See below for more details.
We have 18 students away at the Area Schools coaching clinic in Hamilton with Mr Smith and Mrs McCleery. Our senior student leaders are also preparing for their trip to Akaroa which takes place in the holidays.
Gary Hinds and 7 of our senior students are off to Nepal on Thursday night. We are crossing our fingers that they manage to get off the Peninsula safely in light of the weather that is expected to hit.
In regards to the weather, any information we have, we communicate as quickly as we can via email, facebook and Coromandel FM. It would help us hugely if you are able to check these modes of communication if you are unsure of what is going on. When these events hit, we often have a greatly reduced staff which means even manning the phones is very problematic.
On behalf of all our staff, we would like to thank you for your continued support this term and we wish you a relaxing break with your families. Please keep safe
