It's officially Summer! This is the height of Pitta or the Fire Element according to Ayurveda, it also offers the longest day light when we tend to be more active. Enjoy we must, but some of us overdo ourselves and burn out in the sun. Here are a few tips for a more balanced summer:
  1. Hydration and more hydration. Drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water, add a pinch of salt in your food and water to compensate sweating and to prevent fatigue. 
  2. Practice Restorative or Yin Yoga, less active styles or limit high intensity activities during the hottest or Pitta time of the day 10am-2pm. Sleep and rest mode 10pm-2am. Please enjoy this free  class:
 
  1. Eat Cooling Foods that are pitta-pacifying. Leafy greens, cucumber, melons. Nature is our best chef, generally whatever is in season is the most easily digestible. 
  2. Breathe easy! If you attended the Breath & Meditation Workshop Series, you know that it's not about deep big breaths but rather a soft easy breath through the nose. Encourage that Nitric oxide production and no panting in the Summer or any season.
