The Stream
We have been so grateful for the people who have taken time to share how God is leading and speaking to them during this time.  The “Stream” will be taking a break for the summer, however all past devotionals are available on our website [share the link] and we would encourage you to revisit them.

Fix Your Eyes on Jesus
Jason Basker

Dear Rivercross,

I greet you all from the other side of our God's good earth, 8 hours and 30 mins ahead of Atlantic Time. I embarked on this most thrilling of adventures in March, just before COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic. To say the last 90 days have been 'interesting' would be a gross understatement. Corona has impacted all our lives in many ways; some ways being more disruptive than others. I realize we're still awaiting some major developments in research to combat this virus, but I write you with a renewed sense of hope and it is my desire to share this with you all via this letter.

The image you see above is from one of the gardens in my family's home in India. I call these flowers Jason's Quarantine Lilies. Shortly after I landed, I was asked to home quarantine myself for an extended period of time. Gardening was my only hope from the sheer boredom that took over ever so promptly! I tended to our plants; watering and replanting where necessary.

While the others bloomed and grew steadily over the last 3 months, my Quarantine Lilies refused to cooperate and were causing some disappointment. Nevertheless, I persevered day in and day out. This past week I was pleasantly surprised by these delicate little things. Yesterday, while I loitered through our flower garden, Jesus' teachings on the Lilies of the field hit me like a train. This is where I will urge you all to read this passage when you find the time; Luke 12: 22-32. You may also choose to read a similar passage in Matthew 6:25-34. I highly recommend King James Version for added 'gusto'!

I was reminded of how God's grace reigns supreme. His Will will not lead us where His Grace cannot sustain us. Why should these circumstances worry us? Why fret when God's in control of it All? If He can make this flower bloom when, to me, all seemed lost.. He can (and will) surely take care of our needs and fulfill our hearts' desires. I, therefore, encourage you all to continue hoping on our God. I say let us all stay strong and live well knowing that nothing can separate us from the love of Jesus Christ. When it felt like the weight of this uncertainty was pushing me under, I fixed my eyes on Jesus.. and lo, I am still afloat today penning these reflections down.

Enjoy the summer. See you all soon.

22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life[a]? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? .....
