Winter has arrived
January is here along with winter weather. We were slammed in Ancaster this past weekend. It's going to turn cold again and more snow is on the way. It's the perfect time to hunker down at home and knit.

Rearranging

We were in the store on New Year's Day making a new display. These beautiful skeins of fingering weight yarn greet you as you walk into the store.

This led to another wall of yarn - tosh merino light.
The final wall is Dyed in the Wool from Spincycle.

Spring Rowan

The spring Rowan yarns and books will start arriving the middle of February.
There will be a new yarn for spring - Denim Revive.

5% Other Fibres

$10.49 a ball

Martin Storey has designed a book with beautiful patterns for Denim Revive.

In The Loop

Espace Tricot designed a irresistible cowl in Rowan's new Alpaca Classic. The pattern is free on Ravelry.

Cathy knit the cowl, Sarah is modelling the cowl and Sarah's husband John took the pictures. It's a family affair.

This pretty, graphic cowl can be worn long or doubled, revealing both sides of the striped fabric which features 2-row repeats on the outside and 2” repeats on the inside. The pattern calls for five colours of Rowan’s soft and fluffy Alpaca Classic.

Provisional Cast On

You start In The Loop with a Provisional Cast On which keeps the cast on stitches “live” so that they can be used later.
Purl Soho has a very easy to follow video for doing a Provisional Cast On.

Snow Days

Winter is coming and maybe quicker than we want. If the weather is bad please call ahead before heading to the store. Lynn is driving in from St. Catherines and Cathy is driving from Kitchener. If it is snowing or freezing rain then I will tell them not to come in or I might have to send them home early. I live closer but I do live in the country and our road is the last to be plowed. We will do everything we can to make sure that the store is open but we won't risk an accident if the weather is bad.

Fall/Winter Hours

Fall/Winter hours have started and will run until the end of March.

Alpaca Classic

Alpaca Classic is made using a cotton net which is filled with superfine alpaca fibers, resulting in a wonderfully soft, light weight yarn you will fall in love with.

Due to its fine weight, and intense colour palette, Alpaca Classic is ideal for fairisle patterns and a multitude of garments and accessories.

See all the amazing colours.
Thanks for reading
Don't forget that I blog daily (A Really Good Yarn) about new yarns, upcoming shows and what we're working on at The Needle Emporium.
