Pastor's Devotional...
February 13, 2020

What’s my purpose in life? What’s our purpose as a church? Our QUEST is an acrostic to summarize the answer:
Q uest (worship)
U nite (fellowship)
E xpress (share)
S serve (ministry)
T ransformed (grow)
Our focus this week is Express, sharing Jesus with our words and actions. Jesus’ promise to His disciples extends also to us,” I will make you fishers of men.” I’ve fished the New River near family place in North Carolina all my life with Repps #3 horsehair spinners and a Little Lucys as lures, catching hundreds of small mouth bass and red eyes (a local brim) see photos below.
Here’s what I’ve learned from the Lord and from my time in the river about sharing the Good News:.
  1. We have a fabulous lure! Jesus is an incredibly appealing, winsome, loving model of a better way to live. That appeal reaches across cultures and draws even those who do not accept Him as the Son of God and Savior. We can talk about Him with confidence.
  2. Fish where you live; I’ve driven by that river 1,000’s of times over my life. Fishers of men present the lure that is Jesus to the people they regularly see and love. (work, family, neighbors, club, etc.)
(Read next week for some more tips from the New River!)
Prayer: Holy Spirit, remind me in those opportune moments that the Jesus so appealing to me also intrigues and draws those not yet fully understanding Him. In His Name, Amen.

Our Ash Wednesday service will be Feb. 26th at 7pm. Please join us for a time of reflection and repentance. Click this link to find out what it means and how you can take part.
