January 3, 2019
To thrive and not just survive in 2019, we must cope with a world changing at an exponential rate. Changes taking a decade to evolve in my childhood now take months.
The Scriptures offer wisdom (presented as more than knowledge or intelligence) for living well, for understanding the meaning, the purpose of life and for guiding us toward wise decisions in every area of it. The personification of wisdom in Proverbs as a woman (Sophia) conveys the deeper truth that it is to be received passively from outside oneself. “The fear of the Lord (meaning awe, wonder at God’s power, mercy and love, as in “Wow, what a wonderful God we have.”) is the beginning of wisdom.” Proverbs 9:10
Want to be even more equipped by this wisdom in 2019? Look with wonder at Jesus, the personification of God; worship Him, corporately and privately; experience the depth of His love, His forgiveness, submit to Him, obey His words and mimic His life. May that divine wisdom come into every area of your life, help meet every challenge and cope with every set-back.
Lord Jesus, be the Way and the Truth for me in 2019, the never changing Rock of Ages in an ever changing world! In Your Name, Amen.
