Pastor's Devotional...
July 4, 2019

The debate about athletes protesting before games is a very polarizing one. Why shouldn’t they use their ability as a platform to encourage change for the better! No, I just want to enjoy the game; there are more appropriate arenas for addressing social issues. And the debate rages on!
We’re focusing this weekend on God’s way of using a small, dedicated, focused group to achieve big victories (“Ant-Man and the Wasp” is the featured film in our “God in the Movies” Summer sermon series). Indeed, God reduced Gideon’s large army form 32,000 (still outnumbered by the enemy) to an elite, small group of 300, using them to bring Himself glory in a great victory.
I believe the deepest changes in our nation/culture/society cannot be made by people due to their position on the liberal-conservative spectrum. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray and repent, then I will… heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14
You can’t regulate/legislate change of hearts, only changed behavior. We are God’s core in this nation and world: Kingdom people.
The prayers, loving service and compassionate hearts of faithful people are the conduit by which deep and lasting change is achieved. The opposition is neither liberal nor conservative. His tactics are division and distrust.
Let’s celebrate our wonderful nation in this season by resolving to be His change agent.
Prayer: God, bless America. Make me Your blessing to this nation and make this nation Your blessing of hope, peace and freedom for all people. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayers for Healing
