Greetings of Peace,

Welcome to the 2017, Dayempur Farm Summer Newsletter. It has been a busy and beautiful season with lots of cooperative effort leading to incredible amounts of fresh produce coming from the garden. Please take a moment to catch up with what's new at the Farm and see what opportunities are available to you this season.

What's New on the Farm...
Abundant Produce...
Not only have the gardens been putting out an amazing amount of vegetables, but also an astounding variety. Over the past few months we have harvested broccoli, carrots, cabbage, lettuce, turnips, beets, chard, kale, tat soi... beans, zucchini, garlic, potatoes, honey and eggs. We have had more produce than our Community households and volunteers can eat... enabling us to make regular donations to local food pantries.
Kids' Farm Day...
The Dayemi Family Center's Farm Day program has been a fantastic success this summer. Kids of all ages have enjoyed learning more about gardening, caring for animals and have had plenty of recreation time in the best classroom of all - Nature.
Please Contact the Dayemi Family Center if you have questions about homeschooling or the Farm Day program.
Summer Internship...

Southern Illinois University student Luke Anderson has been interning at Dayempur Farm this summer. He was able to earn 5 credit hours toward his University degree while learning how to grow, tend, harvest, cook and preserve food, build soil, tend livestock and keep bees. Luke says "I appreciate seeing each step of the food cycle... from planting to eating to composting."
Luke has been an awesome addition to the Farm team. We are extremely grateful for his hard work and for SIU's valuable cooperation.
Herbals Workshop...
In June, we hosted a well attended Herbals Workshop. The Dayempur Herbals team lead over 60 participants through discussions, remedy-making demonstrations and garden walks. Thank you to everyone who came out last month! If you would like to learn more about natural medicines, please visit:
