The Leaders Spotlight 

We congratulate Eugenia Benavides Buitrago, class of 1980, for her ranking in the Top 100 Women in the Shipping Industry 2021. She obtained 64th place out of 1,610 women worldwide, the only Colombian in the ranking. Every year, the British media Allaboutshipping.co.uk selects and reveals a list of admirable and prominent women whose careers and hard work have made significant progress in the industry.

Alumni Challeging the Status Quo

Fundación Chukuwata develops innovative social and educational projects with schools, universities, farmers, foodpreneurs, government, and civil society in urban and rural areas. It builds healthy, sustainable, creative, and safe communities through food. 

 Projects:

  • Seeds by Chukuwata: Food and environmental education project for public and private schools.

  • Sabores Ancestrales: Supports traditional farmers and foodpreneurs in rural and urban areas by stimulating inclusive economic growth.

  • Cocinando Comunidad: Impacts small communities through community kitchens, gardens, learning labs, and innovation community centers.

Alumni vs. Student Matches at Marymount Cup 2022

Back in our school days, we were always looking forward to our major sports event: The Marymount Cup.

This year, the school will be organizing students vs. alumni matches for any sport on Friday, May 6, in the afternoon. Prepare to release your inner eagle!

Catching Up with our Alumni
We congratulate Sofia Alvarez Casas, class of 2017, for receiving the Universidad del Norte’s Gold Medal, the highest recognition awarded to its most outstanding students. Sofia is working in Lean Staffing Solutions, dedicated to providing staffing services to US companies.
Daniella Sanchez Russo, class of 2005, is a social communicator and journalist from Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano, with a Master in Creative Writing from New York University and a Master in Romance Languages from Pennsylvania University. She is a Doctoral Candidate in Hispanic Studies from Pennsylvania University. Daniella recently wrote the book “Vigilia.” She will soon return to Barranquilla to work as the Director of the Languages Institute ​​at Universidad del Norte. 
 
We congratulate Carolina Santiago Martínez Aparicio, class of 2017, for receiving the Graduate Diploma of Excellence, awarded by the Universidad del Norte for her outstanding academic performance. Carolina is now working at TDL Group and is also the owner of “Maparaicio Jewelry"  @maparicio_jewelry
Vanessa Jaddad, class of 2013, is the owner of Braun. They sell warm, chewy, and gooey cookies made from scratch, delivered fresh from the oven. Braun also offers their signature vanilla soft serve ice cream to make the perfect dessert combo. You can order them in Rappi and follow them @somosbraun on Instagram. 
 
We congratulate Martin Rebolledo Del Toro, class of 2012, for receiving the “Orden al Mérito Académico Javeriano” for his outstanding academic performance during his specialization studies in Internal Medicine.
Angelica Tcherassi, class of 1998, is an Abstract Artist & Product Designer. Her artistic journey has gone through architecture, product design and painting. Through her creative work, she wishes to inject light into the world through the power of color and form. Her greatest masterpiece is an ongoing, fun, joyful, and bold collection of more than 300 abstract artworks under “The VIBES by AT.” You can follow her on Instagram at @angelicatcherassi
