DONATE: Current Birthday Fundraiser
Dear Friends of City Roots CLT,

A few months back, the CLT board mentioned that we had some exciting news that we'd be sharing with everyone "soon". Well, we were sworn to secrecy up until a few days ago when it was FINALLY announced by Attorney General Letitia James! Read on to learn all about it, but before you do we want to make sure you know about our Volunteer Days this Saturday and Sunday, 9am-4pm at 228 Melville Street (more info below). You can sign up for a time slot or just come by when you're free. Thanks again to all those who came out last Sunday!

Also in this email: a shout out to those who repped for City Roots at a recent event, a couple quick and easy ways to support the CLT, and again.... our EXCITING NEWS!

Volunteer Days
10/19 & 10/20
Come out on October 19th and 20th to help take our first CLT rehab house through the home stretch! We're asking folks to commit to a 2-hour shift on either of those days (or on both if you can!). 228 Melville St from 9am-4pm

No previous experience with working on houses is needed. All you have to do is show up, and we'll find something for you to do! The focus of will be on hanging and mudding drywall, painting, clearing out unused materials, rebuilding the porch steps, and getting the yard looking good. We had 17 volunteers last Sunday for a combined 54 person hours. Can't wait to do it again!

Bagels from Balsam Bagels will be provided to the morning shifts, and we'll have Speedy Slice pizza in the afternoon!
Birthday Fundraiser: 2 days left to DONATE
Autumn Roots Festival
Thanks to everyone who came out to table on behalf of City Roots CLT at South Wedge Mission's annual Autumn Roots Festival! Special thanks to Stanley who never fails to come through with some awesome group photos!
Pictured above we have: Don, Stanley, and Ana (y'all are all-stars!). Not pictured: Tom and Victor (you rock too!). Honorable mention: Mohamed (there in spirit!).
Quick & Easy #1
Here's a quick and easy way to help out the CLT!

Contact a couple local businesses and ask them to donate materials / gift cards to the CLT. We even have a template letter you can drop off to the manager (thanks, Ritti and Tom!).

If you're willing and able, send an email and someone will get back to you with the details.
And now... The EXCITING NEWS!

Attorney General James Grants $850,000 To Rochester For Affordable Housing

Grant Will Support City Roots Community Land Trust
Back in April, we submitted a grant proposal to Enterprise Community Partners for the Community Land Trusts Capacity Building Initiative. A few months ago, we got confirmation that City Roots CLT had been selected as one of the grant recipients! Only problem was our board members weren't able to talk about it without putting the grant at risk until the official announcement was made (man, that was tough!).

Just this past week, NY AG Letitia James made the announcement at a press conference in Ithaca: $850,000 for City Roots Community Land Trust! This is our biggest grant to-date, and it took the support of all of you to make it happen!

In the coming months, we'll be adding several more properties to the CLT with the potential for high-quality, affordable rentals in addition to affordable homeownership opportunities. This grant will also allow us to hire staff. That's right... City Roots is hiring! More details on that coming soon. And hiring staff means we'll be looking for office space, so send any leads you have to

This really was a group effort and a testament to what we can accomplish when we work together. In short, thank you, thank you, thank you for continuing to help this community-led organization grow!
