Dear Friends of City Roots CLT,

First off, there will be no CLT meeting this Thursday evening. Instead, we hope you can join us for two volunteer opportunities Thursday morning at 10am and Saturday from 10am-2pm. More info on that below.

We also want to say thank you to everyone who's come out to volunteer at our "CLT Rehab House" on Melville St. The support has been overwhelming! If you haven't been over there yet, we hope you'll stop by to check it out. Read on for an update on the progress.

We know we promised to announce some "really exciting news within the next couple weeks", but it's not quite ready yet.  Soon, though! Some good news we can share is that we've been getting some great media coverage over the past couple weeks.

Keep up the great work everyone!

City Roots CLT T-shirts Coming Soon!
Which T-shirt would you rather wear?
 Indigo Blue
 Antique Sapphire
Based on polling from our FB page these are the top two choices for our new T-shirts! Which color should we go with? The community decides! Once we have them, they'll be sold for just $15 each to our supporters. All money will go directly to supporting development without displacement after costs.

AND as part of our summer membership drive, we'll be offering a free T-shirt to anyone who signs up / renews their CLT membership by paying the annual membership fee ($25). Read on for info on how to qualify as a member.

You can pre-order a shirt right now by sending your name and T-shirt size to
Volunteers Wanted!
This Saturday, July 13th, from 10:00-2:00, join us for a PlayROCs event at 141 Hazelwood Terrace. Beechwood Neighborhood Coalition, City Roots and Connected Communities are teaming up with Healthi Kids to bring this pop-up play event to Beechwood on this 4th annual city-wide day of play.

We'll have music & dancing, games, twisted balloons, airbrush tattoos, a bubble machine, and an appearance from a favorite character thanks to Beechwood's own Tonz of Fun Entertainment. We'll also have Nerf Footballs, Sidewalk Chalk, Kickballs, Jump Ropes, Bean Bags, Hula Hoops, Giant Tic Tac Toe, an obstacle course, and much more. Something for everyone! Plus, we'll be handing out healthy snacks throughout the day!

So where do you come in and why is the CLT involved with this? City Roots is working with Connected Communities to develop a playground and community gathering space at this site based on neighborhood input. Once the site has been developed, it will be transferred into the land trust!  We'll have more details coming soon, but for now we're asking you to show up on Saturday and help out with the event!

WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR A MINI CLEAN SWEEP THIS THURSDAY, 10:00am at 141 HAZELWOOD. We'll be cleaning up the vacant lots and canvassing the area to make sure as many families as possible get to enjoy the event!. If you can help out on Thursday or Saturday (or both!), please send an email to
New Partnership
You won't believe all the progress we've made on our CLT House Rehab Project!  The kitchen and bathroom - gutted!  The electric - completely rewired! The roof - tear-off underway!  We've even cleaned up the yard and planted flowers (squash, too)!

This wouldn't have been possible without supporters like YOU!

We're also excited to announce a new partnership with our friends at Project Phoenix and the Rochester Multi-craft Apprenticeship Preparation Program (ROC MAPP).  If you've never heard of this program before, it's definitely something to check out.  They introduce adult students to the trades and get them prepared for union apprenticeships.  We've met with both students currently going through the program as well as those who've successfully completed the program and who've been accepted into a union apprenticeship on their way to a good paying job.
