UPDATE
Dear Friends of City Roots CLT,

First off, congratulations to all those who put their time and energy into getting legislation passed that will strengthen tenant protections here in NY!  We know there's still work to be done, but this is definitely something to celebrate and be proud of!

The CLT has been making great progress as well!  More and more people are hearing about the efforts of this volunteer-run, community-led organization, Peace Village has been a success by all accounts, and we're hosting a big Volunteer Day this Saturday at our "CLT Rehab House" on Melville St (more on that below). We're also hoping to announce some really exciting news within the next couple weeks.  Wish we could share more details, but trust that it's gonna be good!

There won't be any CLT committee meetings tonight (hope to see you Saturday instead), but be sure to mark your calendar for our monthly Third Thursday general meeting, 5:30-7pm at 441 Parsells Ave on 6/20.  We'll be discussing our response to the City's recently released draft of the comprehensive plan - Rochester 2034.  It talks a bit about affordability and Community Land Trusts get a mention, but we think there's a lot more that can and should be included!  Details HERE

Welcome to
The Board

Please join us in officially welcoming Shane Wiegand to our board! Shane has been a volunteer with City Roots since nearly the beginning and has chaired our Outreach Committee for the past two years while also helping out with grant writing and in all sorts of small ways. If you haven't seen his presentation on redlining and other forms of housing discrimination, we highly recommend it (here's something to tide you over until then)! We're thrilled to have him join the board.

A slot opened up for Shane when Jim Pergolizzi resigned from the board so that he can provide legal representation for the CLT.  Thanks for your continued service, Jim!
Volunteers Wanted!

We need you to come out on Saturday, June 15th to help get our first CLT rehab house going!

We're asking folks to sign up for a 2-hour shift sometime between 10am and 430pm. No previous experience with working on houses is needed. All you have to do is show up, and we'll find something for you to do! The focus of the day will be on demolition (cabinets, tub surround, etc), so a great opportunity to get some aggression out in a healthy and productive way. =D

Bagels from Balsam Bagels will be provided to the morning shifts, and we'll have Speedy Slice pizza in the afternoon.

Sign up here ---> https://signup.com/go/JKVztmR

When this house is finished, it will be sold to a first-time homebuyer at a subsidized price. The price will be set so that it is affordable to someone making about 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

Interested in helping out, but can't make it on the 15th? Let us know what works for you!
