Hello City Roots friends!

It's (almost) summertime and City Roots has been BUSY! We're knocking on doors, organizing events, working on houses, and building that community wealth. And that 'we' includes all of our members and supporters! None of what we've accomplished together would be possible without our broad and growing base of passionate and dedicated volunteers. Being a member-based organization is one thing that sets our Community Land Trust apart, and we're so proud to be doing this work with all of you.

Read on below for some great examples of what we're talking about. And be sure to join us this Thursday for our monthly General Meeting where we'll have more updates on the latest and greatest from City Roots.

Third Thursday: General Member Meeting
TRANSFORMATIVE LAND STRATEGIES: Lessons from the Field Reading Group
Thursday, June 17 from 5:30-7:00 pm

We hold our general meeting on the Third Thursday of every month. This is a great time to catch up on what's been going on with the CLT, other members and supporters, and to ask questions!

At this month's General Meeting we're going to be discussing a reading that a few CLT members have been reading and meeting to talk about together. The report is called A Guide to Transformative Land Strategies: Lessons from the Field by MIT CoLabs. If you would like to read the piece as well Click the link below!
We have 5 committees that are open to our members as well as the community. The committees are:
  • Outreach & Engagement
  • Policy  & Procedures
  • Advocacy
  • Stewardship
  • Fundraising
If you're interested in any of these committee's, please reach out to Anastajah at, or click here to fill out a membership form online and choose which committee's you're interested in.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time with the CLT in the past few weeks! Now that we have new properties, we have been working nonstop to talk to tenants, move folks in to their new homes, start cleaning the properties up. Member & volunteer support is crucial to the work that we do, and their aren't words to express how grateful we are to have such awesome supporters that are willing to lend a hand every step of the way!
We're introducing Member Mondays!
Though we may not be meeting in person, we love highlighting our members and all of their amazing talents! Click here to fill out a form with some information, and you  can be highlighted on all of our social media any upcoming Monday!
The City of Rochester is having a community meeting this evening (6/16) at 7pm about Goodman Plaza. City Roots CLT, Connected Communities and other Beechwood community organizations have been campaigning around cleaning up Goodman Plaza since last year, and we feel that the community should have a say in what happens in the area. If you live in/around the plaza, or just care about what happens there, please attend if you can!

The Beechwood Bike Repair Clinic has begun! City Roots CLT is happy to be one of the sponsoring organizations.

Get your bike repaired for free!

We're looking for some more volunteers to help out on Wednesdays from 4-7pm (no need to commit to every week). No bike repair experience? No problem! We can teach you how to fix a flat tire in no time. And folks can also help by doing things like signing in the 'customers', organizing supplies, or getting the basketball hoop set up.

Stop by, hang out, have fun!

Then, Join Black Girls Do Bike for their twice-weekly Unity Rides this summer!
Join 490 Farmers every Wednesday this summer for their Garden District Farmers Market at 550 Meigs Street! Our Friends from Flower City Noire Collective, Mojo's Micro Farm, & Climate Solutions Accelerator!

Also, our friends over at the Rochester Mutual Aid Network will be having a free pop-up clothing event! Stop by for free feminine clothing!
We're 6 MONTHS into our membership campaign! If you haven't filled out the form yet, stop what you're doing and click HERE to fill out a free membership form! Even if you live on CLT land, we want to make it official by filling out a membership form online. This helps us know more about potential members interests, and helps track attendance.
