City Roots is working to empower residents and preserve affordability in our neighborhoods, but we can't do it without YOU! Join us every week at our CLT Pull Ups.
Hello City Roots friends! Check out some of the CLT events we have coming in the next week!
Our October Policy Committee Meeting is tomorrow starting at 5 pm!! We will meet at First Market Farm around 5 for some community building and to share a meal (provided by City Roots) before getting into our meeting around 5:45-50pm.

For those who cannot attend in person, we will also have a zoom meeting available! You can join at this link:

Here is a full agenda for our meeting tomorrow:
Our Weekly Pull-Up is happening at 6 PM! We're having a potluck with Councilmember Mary Lupien, and you're invited to share a dish of your own with us! We'll be at 463 Parsells Ave.

We didn't get to create the community-building circle we planned on last week, so we're trying it this week! Here is the agenda for the circle:
  • 6:00 Intros and Refreshments, Center Circle Activity
  • 6:20 Opening Remarks - Reading & Guided Meditation
  • 6:30 Land Acknowledgement, Intro & Circle guidelines
  • 6:45 Group Conversation
    • Round 1
    • Summary
    • Connection Round
  • 7:30 Potluck Activity & Round 2
  • 8:00 Closing with Interconnected appreciation web

The food provided will be vegetarian or vegan friendly. Bring your own signature dish, a friend or two, or just join us to build community with us!

Note that this will be an outdoor potluck and that masks are encouraged. 😊
Hope to see you all there!
Our small coalition has been hard at work this past month talking to our neighbors about Goodman Plaza. Since the end of August we have knocked on 250+ doors and talked with more than 80 of our neighbors about the history of Goodman Plaza and the need to transform it into a true community asset.

We have several more canvassing days scheduled before it gets too cold to be outside, and I really hope you all can join us for some of them!

Here are the upcoming canvassing dates:
  • Friday, October 8th from 4-6pm
  • Friday, October 15th from 4-6pm
  • Tuesday, October 19th from 4-6pm
  • Friday, October 29th from 4-6pm
As always we will do a short training on how to have canvassing conversations before breaking up into teams of two to go talk with our neighbors. The more people we have knocking on doors, the more neighbors we can meet, and the more power we can build!

Please reach out to Graham if you have any questions!
We're having a garden build day! 3 CLT properties need some love, so they're getting new garden features added to their homes! City Roots has been doing a bunch of work surrounding agriculture, and we're calling on all green thumbs to help create our CLT lessee members' vision! If you would like to help out, be sure to fill out this volunteer form:

Be prepared to do some light walking! We'll be meeting at 228 Parsells Ave, and from there we'll be walking to the CLT properties, which are all within half of a mile of each other.

We'll be doing more garden projects in the spring, so get involved as a CLT member today to have input in the implementation of free community gardens that will be stewarded for generations to come!
Then, join us for some Fall fun at Cider by the Fire! Come hang out with us on Saturday, October 16th at 228 Parsells Ave! We'll be community building, decorating pumpkins, playing fun games, and of course, sipping some warm cider with donuts by the fire!
If you're interested in becoming a CLT member, volunteering at least 1 time a year for the CLT is how you do it!

If you haven't filled out the form yet, stop what you're doing and click HERE to fill out a free membership form!

Even if you live on CLT land, we want to make it official by filling out a membership form online. This helps us know more about potential members' interests and helps track attendance.

You qualify as a member if you live within the City of Rochester and you meet two of the three qualifications:
1) Pay $25 annual dues;
2) Attend at least 4 CLT meetings within 12 months
3) Volunteer in some capacity on behalf of the CLT.
If you think you qualify but aren't sure, please reach out to Anastajah.
