Did you win recently?!

Did you solve a problem, untangle a mess, or ensure that something didn't become a problematic, tangled mess? Write it in your Brag File right now! Don't forget the details: what happened, what your role was, and what it says about your whole vibe. What's a Brag File? It's just a doc you keep your wins on, so you can use them in cover letters and interviews. Easier than trying to remember that one project you did 2 years ago!

New Capital Women issue!

It's got my monthly advice column; this time, it's all about being in the somewhat enviable position of job-searching when you're paid above market at your current job.

How to run a conference

If you're in the event-planning world, or would like to be, here's 18 ways to run a kickass conference, from chasing speakers to the value of bad jokes, compiled by Louis Rosenfeld. Extremely worth checking out!

What is a Code of Conduct?

I recently attended a great event by Women Talk Design, where the panelists discussed the trials and tribulations of being a woman and a public speaker. (yes, it was a panel on panels. Don't knock it!) More than one speaker really pressed the importance of each event they speak at having a Code of Conduct, which isn't something I'd thought a lot about, tbh. So I wrote one of my own for upcoming Ranavain events. Check it out, and consider if your organization could use one too.

Speaking of events!

Ranavain has events now! Coming up soon we've got two Ranavain Roundtables: one for folks interested in working in Media & Journalism, and one for working in Accounting & Finance. Register today, and remember that members get 50% off the ticket price of all Ranavain events.

Would you interview these folks?

AAM did a round-up of the weirdest, most interesting, and most out-there things hiring managers have seen in resumes. Contrarian that I am, I couldn't resist pointing out the ones where I think hiring managers were too harsh. Would you have interviewed them?

Happy to help.

That's what MailChimp decided to title this field, and dang it, I think they were on to something. I'd love to help you out! I do cover letter and resume reviews, run an ongoing professional development membership program on Patreon, and write about work type stuff all the time, over on my website! I encourage you to check it out if you're into that kind of thing:
