Did you win recently?!

Did you solve a problem, untangle a mess, or ensure that something didn't become a problematic, tangled mess? Write it in your Brag File right now! Don't forget the details: what happened, what your role was, and what it says about your whole vibe. What's a Brag File? It's just a doc you keep your wins on, so you can use them in cover letters and interviews. Easier than trying to remember that one project you did 2 years ago!

Workforce, by James Tate (2001)

It's a poem, and I kind of love it. It was in a recent edition of POME, a great daily newsletter by Matthew Ogle of modern poetry. I've not been a big poetry reader in the past, but having one in my inbox every day is unexpectedly delightful. You can sign up here!

Safe Space Jam is coming up!

CASS (Collective Action for Safe Spaces) is an organization "working to make DC safer for everyone by using comprehensive, community-based solutions through an intersectional lens to eliminate public gendered harassment and assault in the DC metropolitan area." Ranavain is proud to sponsor their annual gala/dance party on April 23, and I'm looking forward to jamming with you all.

1-3 years of experience... sure...

I did a deep-dive into a job posting I found on Idealist, which seems to demand an awful lot of candidates that they also contend have a mere 1-3 years of experience. But that's not even the main problem here.

When you look around the conference room and see a bunch of dudes

Shoutout to my friend Mia Di Stefano for finding this tactical masterpiece on how folks (of any gender) can help advance women in their workplace. Heck, if everyone in leadership of any org did these steps consistently with anyone from a marginalized community, workplaces would be a lot better for everyone.

Ever f*ck up something major at work?

Lifehacker's got you. Mistakes happen, they're always gonna happen, it's what you do afterward that shapes your reputation. Take ownership and come ready with solutions.

How to fundraise for a campaign, step by step

NGPVAN has a lot of really great resources on their site, but this one caught my eye: it's an absolutely clear, step-by-step guide to fundraising for a campaign. Use it to get better at your job, or learn if fundraising sounds like a fun gig to you, or use it to run for office. Up to you!

Happy to help.

That's what MailChimp decided to title this field, and dang it, I think they were on to something. I'd love to help you out! I do cover letter and resume reviews, run an ongoing professional development membership program on Patreon, and write about work type stuff all the time, over on my website! I encourage you to check it out if you're into that kind of thing:
