Inviting our Roots

(all sing)
"Day by Day"

Day by day, day by day,
O, dear Lord, three things I pray:
To see thee more clearly,
Love thee more dearly,
Follow thee more nearly,
Day by day

Song to Celebrate the Path of Rootedness
(feeding the hungry)
"Three Little Birds"

Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin': Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right

Rise up this mornin’,
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Perched by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin’: This is my message to you-ou-ou

Singin’: Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin': Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!

Rise up this mornin’,
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Perched by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin’: This is my message to you-ou-ou

Singin’: Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin': Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!

Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin': Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!

Singing & Sharing a Holy Peace
"Get Ready, My Soul"

Get ready, my soul - I'm diving in
Get ready, my soul - I'm diving in
To the deepest kind of love
To the sweetest kind of life
Get ready
Get ready, My soul

Everything I've ever done
Everything I've ever seen
Everything I've lost or won
Everything I've ever dreamed
Has brought me here:
To the present moment,
Here: To a new beginning,
Here:  And I'm seeing life so clearly now

Get ready, my soul - I'm diving in
Get ready, my soul - I'm diving in
To the deepest kind of love
To the sweetest kind of life
Get ready
Get ready, My soul

LEARNING

Matthew 6:25-34
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Maker feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life? And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will God not much more clothe you—you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, “What will we eat?” or “What will we drink?” or “What will we wear?” For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your Creator knows that you need all these things. But strive first for the kingdom of God and God’s righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Ramayana
When Rama asks Hanuman, “How do you look upon me?” the great monkey god gives a three-part answer, “When I believe I am the body, then I am your faithful servant. When I know I am the soul, I know myself to be a spark of your eternal Light. And when I have the vision of truth, you and I, my Lord, are one and the same.”

Reader: This is ancient wisdom and holy word.
People: Thanks be to all that is wise and holy.

Reader: All creation is wisdom and holy word.
People: All creation sings of wisdom and god. Hallelujah!

  Dedicating Our Gifts to God

(all sing)
"Blue Boat Home"

Sun, my sail and moon, my rudder
As I ply the starry sea
Leaning over the edge in wonder
Casting questions into the deep
Drifting here with my ship s companions
All we kindred pilgrim souls
Making our way by the lights of the heavens
In our beautiful blue boat home

I give thanks to the waves upholding me
Hail the great winds urging me on
Greet the infinite sea before me
Sing the sky my sailor s song
I was born upon the fathoms
Never harbor or port have I known
The wide universe is the ocean I travel
And the earth is my blue boat home
(words: Peter Mayer/music: Pritchard)

This Week's Quotes

Knowing you are alive is feeling the planet buck under you----while you hang on to the ring. It is riding the planet like a log downstream, whooping.
~ Annie Dillard, The Abundance

Creation not only exists, it also discharges truth...Wisdom requires a surrender, verging on the mystical, of a person to the glory of existence.
~ Gerhard Von Rad

Mystical experience is the mirror image of negative paranoia. It sees "the universe is a conspiracy organized for my benefit."
~ Andrew Weil, The Natural Mind

The blue sky is always there for us. When it rains and storms, clouds cover the sky, but we are confident the blue sky is still there.
~ Thich Nhat Hanh
