Grandparents Mornings
It has been lovely to welcome Grandparents into Loreto Convent once again this week. The two mornings commenced with Mass celebrated by Mon. Paul Bear. In the Palm Tree playground each year group performed a song whilst Grandparents enjoyed refreshments.
Thank you to Rosemarie Isola of the Catholic Grandparents Association of Gibraltar for their support.

Well done to Lucas and Ben in Year 6 who participated in a Basketball competition this week.  Playing for the Bavaria Basketball team they won the under 12 basketball league in the face of tough competition throughout the league with both Lucas and playing brilliantly, receiving their well-deserved league champion medals.
Fire! Fire! Fire!
As part of the topic of People Who Help Us, FS2 visited the Fire Station at the airport. The children were treated to a fun packed afternoon where they got to see what the job of a fire officer entails. They were able to sit in a fire truck, wear hard hats and jackets and even put out a fire! The children also learnt about how to stay safe if there ever was a fire. They really had a blast!
Piano Perfect
Dexter in Ms Lombard’s class recently sat his Grade One piano exam, and he achieved a distinction. He is now on grade 3.  Dexter is delighted and we at Loreto are very proud of his achievement.
Rugby Rules
Over the weekend, Joe Garcia from 6L participated in a rugby tournament in Valladolid. His team made the finals and won the Spanish rugby tournament against teams from the whole of Spain. Well done Joe for this great achievement - we are very proud of you!
Real Madrid Pro Talk
Adolfo Aldana visited this week to talk to Year 5 and 6 pupils about his career in football.  For over 11 seasons, he amassed La Liga totals of 178 matches and 31 goals, mainly with Real Madrid and Deportivo with which he won a total of nine major titles.
Gardening DIY SOS
On Tuesday, the Gardening Club pupils worked alongside their parents on an DIY SOS Garden Project.  The school garden pathway has started to be rel-aid, with a giant pebbled Union Flag for the Jubilee.  Recycled House Pallet herb planters were constructed and fixed to the garden wall.  A decking area has been constructed, the starting point for a mud kitchen for our Nursery pupils.  A Bug hotel has been constructed so pupils in Lower Primary can see what bugs there are as part of their Micro beast curriculum topic. It was a massive effort and Mr Devincenzi-Clemens could not have achieved this without the generous support from the parents.
Jubilee Baton Relay
The following pupils were selected to take part in the Queens Baton Relay after excelling in the Essay Competition organised by the Commonwealth Games Association of Gibraltar .
Miriam and Dexter were placed in first position, awarded the role of baton bearers.
They were accompanied by runners up - Hermione, Henrietta, Noah and Dilan, acting as a baton escorts.
All the winners were presented with a commemorative T-shirt.
Jubilee Celebrations
From Nursery to Year 6, we all enjoyed right royal Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Princes and Princesses in Nursery and Foundation Stage picnicked on the patio, Years 1 – 6 performed Jubilee songs before enjoying street parties and royal themed activities.
It was a wonderful start to this special Jubilee holiday!

As part of Year 1’s history work on famous historical figures, we looked at the life of Queen Elizabeth II.  To bring this to life and to welcome parents back to school, much needed after the Covid period, we felt compelled to honour the Queen during her Platinum Jubilee year through our assembly.
We identified important events and dates in our Queen's life and met important people such as Prince Philip, her father King George VI and her heirs to the throne.  We finished by singing the National Anthem.
The pupils gave every effort to produce their best performances and produced something wonderful.  We are so very proud of them!
Year 2 have been learning about Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family this week. They have designed their own recipe for the Jubilee Pudding Competition. There were some mouth watering, fruity and chocolate delights! They have made elegant crowns and have been busy making placemats to use at our Jubilee party.

Year 3 have been very excited about Queen Elizabeth’s II Platinum Jubilee which celebrates 70 years of her being the queen. In preparation for the Jubilee party the children watched a PowerPoint all about her reign and the festivities planned to commemorate this special occasion.
They completed wordsearches, made special placemats, crowns, and Union Jack flags. The two classes also created a collaborative life size picture of her majesty.
The Year 4 classes have been busy making their own crowns and Union flags to commemorate our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. They’ve had a wonderful finger food party and they even took pictures with Queen Elizabeth herself! A joyful celebration enjoyed by all! Long live the Queen!
Year 5 participated in a Jubilee Breakfast where they were treated to many sumptuous goodies. This was followed by various activities which included quizzes, puzzles, poetry and craftwork. Thoroughly enjoyable day celebrating the Platinum Jubilee.
