Faith Diary
After the story of Moses and the burning bush which is this week’s first reading, the Gospel takes us to the parable of the fruitless fig-tree. The owner wants to cut it down, but the gardener, who tends to it and cares for it in every sense, pleads with him to give it one more year to bear fruit and prove its worth. This little story reminds us that we too should present our Lord with good Christian fruits of love, mercy and compassion, rather than merely existing, taking up space and ‘exhausting the soil’ with our barren presence. This season of Lent is the ideal time to reflect on whether we give as much as we might towards the upkeep of His kingdom, to resolve to improve, to see Christ himself reflected in the need of others and to reach out to them, in His name.

Year 1 Wash Day
Through our history topic, we have learned about how clothes were washed in the past. We looked at and used historical artefacts such as a copper dolly, box iron, washboard and scrubbing brush. We hung up our jumpers with old pegs and smelled the old soap, which none of us liked!
View the video or picture slideshow that the pupils took themselves using the school iPads.

Y4 Inter House Netball Tournament
For the past few weeks, Y4 have been learning how to play Netball during their P.E. lessons. They’ve been gradually introduced to the positions of “High 5” netball and have been playing small sided matches. All children in Y4 took part in an Inter-House Netball tournament this week in order to win sports house points for their team. Their passing, decision making, shooting and defending were outstanding! We have some very promising stars in the making. Congratulations to St Joan’s who were the winners of the Y4 Inter-House tournament!

All children in Y3 took part in the Inter-House Netball tournament this week, with Sports House points as their price. Congratulations to St Philomena’s who were the winners of the Y3 Inter-House tournament after an incredible comeback in their final match!
