Goldthwait Polar Library Renovation to Begin January 20
We are pleased to announce the beginning of construction for the Goldthwait Polar Library! The hallway outside of the Learning Center (Scott Hall 177) is scheduled to be closed January 20-24. 
Registration for the Byrd Center Symposium and 60th Anniversary Celebration Opens January 27
Keynote speaker Richard Alley, a geologist known for his studies of glaciology and climate change, will kick off the symposium from 6:30-8:30 p.m. March 26, followed by the technical portion of the symposium March 27. An Ohio State alumnus, Alley received the National Center for Science Education’s first Friend of the Planet award in 2014. He is the author of “Earth: The Operators’ Manual.”

Seminar: Dr. Daniel Westervelt

Dr. Daniel Westervelt, who is an Associate Research Scientist with the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University, will be presenting his work regarding environmental responses to aerosol emissions.

Dr. Saurabh Vijay, a Research Associate at the Byrd Center, will be sharing his research and experiences with the Indian Himalayan Glaciers.

Admiral Richard Evelyn and Marie Ames Byrd Endowment Fund (600145)
Established December 6, 1985, by the Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd Foundation, the Byrd Fellowship provides. Income provides fellowships at The Ohio State University for postdoctoral researchers with superior academic backgrounds who are pursuing advanced research on topics relevant to polar and alpine environments as well as global climate change. 

Currently, this fellowship endowment can only fund one part time postdoc each year.  With your donations, we hope to be able to fully fund at least one Byrd Fellow each year.
