Dear Capri Families,

I think about parenting constantly. Being a mother is by far my most important calling. I believe that I do a fine job and yet it is an area that I study continuously because I believe there is always room to improve. I recently ran across a study that compared parenting to cultivating a garden. It is a bit cliché, but the metaphor is really perfect. I hope you will enjoy and perhaps take away a few seeds of thought for your own garden bed!

If you lead a family, you’re the gardener. You grow a small plant, care for it, try to keep weeds out of its way and nourish it daily. If you do this well, you will maximize your chances for a bountiful harvest and enjoyable days in the sun, if you neglect your duties when times are tough, you get tired, other things steal your attentions, or you simply forget the importance of structure and routine to your small plant, then your days in the garden will be dark and the fruit will not bear well. So, as you go about your parenting duties, think about this- what am I trying to grow? Am I caring for my plant by example, by proper nutrient giving and faithful tending, am I keeping the weeds out of its way? Remember, in most cases, we reap what we sow.

At this very hectic time of year, let’s not forget the basic, daily things that we do for our children, for these are the things that matter most.

If you would like to get a jump on your holiday shopping, stop by the multi-purpose room tomorrow as our EEF will be hosting the 2nd Annual Holiday Boutique.  Local artists, designers, bakers and more will be there showcasing their items from 10am -2pm.

Also, a note of gratitude to our PTA for planning and creating a fun Fall Festival! I witnessed smiles all around and I appreciate the time it took to provide this. Finally, thanks to our Capri Green Team and their successful presentation of the bottle cap mural- what an inspiration to us all!

Wishing you a joyful week,
Principal Carrie Lancon

Directora Carrie Lancon
