Bernie,

Remember when I told you a few weeks ago that we needed to turn up the pressure to protect health care? Now is that time.

Today the Senate released a revised version of their bill that still guts Medicaid, blocks patients from Planned Parenthood clinics, and repeals the Affordable Care Act. It will rip insurance coverage away from millions of Americans and do enormous harm to women and people with disabilities by destroying essential services provided by Medicaid.

Make no mistake: this bill threatens the civil rights, health, freedom, and the very lives of millions of people with disabilities in our country. And that’s why every one of us must rise up to stop it. People’s lives are at stake -- and people with disabilities are on the front lines of this fight.

Take action, and attend a People Power event near you today. Then share these events with your family and friends, because this fight is going to take all of us.

For people with disabilities, Medicaid is more than just health insurance. It’s the primary provider of services like personal care attendants to help people get dressed, eat, and use the bathroom. Without it, people would be forced into nursing homes or institutions instead of getting the support they need to live on their own terms, in their own homes and communities.

People with disabilities deserve better than this. Everyone does.

A few weeks ago, your calls and actions helped delay the vote on the original Senate bill. We can do that again, but it’s going to mean fighting even harder than before -- because a vote can happen as soon as next week.

We must do everything we can to make sure that this bill does not pass. Attend a People Power event near you today!

Together, we will beat back this assault on people with disabilities, and stop this bill.

Thank you,

Faiz Shakir
