Fall Clean-up Day is Saturday, October 30
We're cleaning up the grounds at York Friends Meeting on Saturday, October 30 (rain date, November 6) from 9 AM to 12 noon. Most of the chores are outdoors, including trimming dead branches from trees, cleaning up the gardens, and other miscellaneous tasks. Please bring gloves, lawn rakes, garden shears, and lots of positive energy. Bring your own beverages and snacks. Mask wearing and social distancing will be observed.
We'll be paying special attention to the pollinator garden on the west side of the Meetinghouse. We'd appreciate all the help we can get!
Questions? Email the Meeting at email@example.com
Hope to see you then!
Making Friendly Connections: Catching up with Members & Attenders
Sunday, October 10 @ 12:30
Friends met on September 12 to make calls, send emails and write cards, and over the past few weeks we were able to reach out to most of the Members & Attenders list. We'll meet again on Sunday, October 10 after Meeting for Worship to discuss how to reach out to those we didn't hear back from, and how we might move forward.
All are welcome to attend!
Meeting with a Concern for Racial Justice
Sunday, October 31 at 9:30am
How can Quakers play a role in racial healing? According to Sterling Duns, it’s going to take a lot of dreaming.
Friends met at the end of September to consider our Meeting's work in moving toward Racial Justice. At that gathering Friends committed to the following actions:
Placing signs outside the Meetinghouse that express solidarity
Supporting our Little Free Library with books by Black, Indigenous, Latinx, AAPI, LGBTQIA+ and other under-represented authors
Holding a Writing Table to contact legislators about issues of racial and social justice
Holding a Meeting with a Concern for Racial Justice on the last Sunday of the month to continue the work of becoming an antiracist community
Our next gathering will be on Sunday, October 31 at 9:30am to continue our discernment on the BYM Declaration as an Antiracist Faith Community and to think about what action might be next. Here are some things to do before our next meeting.
Watch the QuakerSpeak video(above) of Sterling Duns dreaming of wholeness and healing among Friends.
See what other BYM meetings are doing to move toward racial justice. The Working Group on Racism just updated the list: you can view it here.
