Another Design Build 80,000
Square Foot Success!

In business for over 30 years, Rowmark is the industry leader in the manufacture and sale of acrylic engraving stock. By 2014, Rowmark had out grown its current manufacturing facility. With the marketplaces anticipated and continue growth, in addition to a new start-up Company, Premier Material Concepts (PMC), Rowmark knew it was time to build. The greatest challenge in this decision was how to keep customers orders filled without any interruptions while making the move to a new location.

The plan was set to complete the manufacturing, warehouse and shipping areas first, while working closely with local code officials to obtain partial occupancy of these areas ahead of the non-manufacturing areas. The new facility would have 60K sq. ft. of manufacturing, warehousing and shipping space in addition to 20K sq. ft. of R&D, lab and office space.

The building used was a Butler Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB), the architect was faced with the challenge of making the Rowmark "World Head Quarters" look impressive but not pretentious; to look like a world class manufacturing facility and not a warehouse. A large challenge to say the least, but RCM Architects of Findlay, Ohio did a tremendous job of this. Again the building structure is PEMB but with the use of a combination of curtainwall, masonry and ACM panels RCM was able to give the building a sleek modern look.

The design team and manufacturing staff worked together to create a plant layout that would streamline work flow, increase productivity and assure quality product finishes. The inventory control and production schedulers worked with the construction team to follow construction progress and build inventories for the upcoming shutdown and relocation.

With site work beginning in September, we were fully aware we needed to set the building up and under roof in short order. The design team worked with Butler to simplify the design allowing the building to arrive quicker then normal. The building arrived in November and we were in the dry by the end of the year. The majority of the interior under roof was masonry walls with numerous mezzanine levels though-out. With the building enclosed, we were able to heat the space and complete the interior build out through-out the winter season This work included masonry, concrete slab on grade and slab on deck, as well as electrical and mechanical rough-ins.

The Rowmark business has been occupying this space for over 2 years and continues to attest to the fantastic structure it is to work in. The transition was smooth and the current function is ideal for the growing business.
