Good Shepard Home Expands Therapy Area
Clouse Construction had the honor of recently completing an expansion and renovation of The Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria, Ohio. As a licensed skilled nursing, assisted living, and independent living facility, Good Shepard Home saw a need to offer on-site, state-of-the-art physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory therapy services to their residents and patients.

The physical therapy wing was expanded to include two gym areas, exam rooms, and a home environment “retrain-ing” center, complete with a kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom. The new physical therapy space also includes one of the largest therapy pools in the area, complete with a plunge pool to help relieve sore muscles and other tensions on the body. The pool is equipped with an underwater video monitoring system along with two underwater treadmills.
Clouse Construction’s engineer was particular when considering and installing the most sophisticated features and design modifications to ensure the facility is not only compliant with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), but is also on the cutting edge of accessibility.

Using Clouse’s extensive inventory of sophisticated construction equipment, Clouse Construction’s in-house staff performed 80% of all work including site work, concrete work, steel erection, framing, carpentry, and finish details. And whenever possible, the materials were purchased from local suppliers. All materials were carefully tracked by computerized ordering and inventory control, so deliveries and quantities could continually be accounted for.
During the construction and renovations of the Good Shepherd Home and campus, it was crucial to keep disruptions to a minimum. To respect resident’s dining times and space, work and clean up was completed in 3 hour shifts to keep areas clear of any construction debris. In addition, flooring for the corridors was usually installed in the evening, while the residents slept.

The Good Shepherd Home expansion and renovation was a successful project thanks to the communication between the project manager, qualified subcontractors, suppliers, and the owners. While the team at Clouse is proud of maintaining high standards in the work we do, we are equally proud of maintaining the highest standards in how we work.  We want customers to be satisfied throughout the whole construction process – and to stay satisfied long after the project is complete.
