Nerd Alert! We're about to be in our element of presentation and PowerPoint design next Monday through Wednesday (9/24-9/26). GhostRanch is comin' to San Diego, CA for The Presentation Summit 2018.

During PreSum's "Four Days of Magic", PowerPoint experts and designers come together for the ultimate knowledge fest of visual storytelling and strategy. (Yeah, be jealous). It's a blast for our brains and, of course, to get the #RemoteLife team together IN PERSON.

Why are we taking a West Coast getaway in the middle of the work-week, you ask? Because we're always learning. That's the name of a Slack channel in which we share YouTube tutorials, inspirational sites, and weirdo articles about trees having heartbeats. PreSum is the perfect excuse to practice what we preach.

If we're a bit slow to respond to emails next week, it's because we're OOO—learning.

Out Of Office:

Just keep learning, just keep learning...

I asked the Rancheros why we go to PreSum, what they're most excited about, and/or share a fave PreSum memory.
Allie, oozing anticipation
  • We go to PreSum because it is THE gathering for our very niche community. These are the live-or-die storytellers of presentation design, and it's really cool to spend a few days saturated with passion for something a lot of people typically see as an after-thought or chore in the design industry as a whole.
Steve, shutting down the haters
  • PowerPoint is a wayyyyyy better design tool than it gets credit for.
Jeff, on being mind-blown last year
  • The short 15-minute session with Taylor Croonquist stands out in my mind. I got to watch someone who knows PowerPoint inside and out drop 2 hours worth of knowledge in 15 minutes. It was like drinking water from a fire hose, but holy cow was it eye-opening to see what this program is truly capable of and how you can make it work for you.
Mikey, fangirl-ing over the experts
  • Microsoft sent about 8 members from the PowerPoint product team to hang out during the entire course of the summit. It was pretty killer to have such close access to the people who build the tool we spend so much time in.
Mary's ready to jump into the deep-end
  • I’m really looking forward learning more about PowerPoint and some more advanced features I’ve been a little hesitant to dive into.
Lindsay, being sweet
  • I’m looking forward to actually meeting the people I love to work with everyday. :)
Fave memories include...
  • Beers being passed around on the beach by someone in a suit.
  • When Jeff tried to jump over a beach tennis net. ;)
D'aww look at us all together last year, a Floridian sunset with its perfect gradient in the background. Follow along @GhostRanchPPT for more "Wish You Were Here" social media sentiments.
Actual footage of Jeff and Mikey working hard at PreSum.
So, in conclusion: BRB. With more PowerPoint prowess than ever before.

Until then, enjoy our OOO message...
