Greetings, football fans! And no, I don't mean that kind of football.

I mean the sport that everyone else in the world calls "football" and Americans have confidently decided "soccer" just had a better ring to it. While I've no explanation for that, I do understand why watching the World Cup is so fun. Office brackets, world unity - it's like a bonus Olympics for people all over to get excited about.

The World Cup will have its final match (ahem, game) this Sunday, featuring first-time finalists Croatia, and Vives les bleus! - La France. Even though the United States isn't playing, it's a welcome excuse to have a Sunday funday.

For your sport savviness, we're sending along some basic tidbits to get you up to date and in the game - which again, is called football.

Infomania: World Cup Wonders

What's so great about the World Cup, you ask?? Golden Glove awards > medals.

Are they a "Goalie" or a "Keeper"?

For the big FIFA nerd in your life
  • Check out the FIFA "Stats of the Day" docs they've released on their site daily. But let's be real, designers - there has to be a better way to mock these up!?
A little drama never hurt anyone
  • Right, Neymar? No one enjoyed Brazil's oust more than Twitter, using the infamous overdramatic player's "injury" roll in every meme imaginable
When you're on vacation and decide you're not coming home
  • Neither is England's win. "It's coming home" was a historic mantra of their World Cup journey and now an empty promise until next time (2022). It's also quite the ear-worm - give it a listen.
If you're bummed that the World Cup only happens once every four years
Now, grab your airhorns and get ready for every time there's a touchdown--I mean, goal. Ya know. Sports.
