NEMCSA Program Updates

In an effort to prevent/contain the spread of the coronavirus, NEMCSA, along with many other organizations are cancelling and/or rescheduling community events. Visit NEMCSA.org for the most up-to-date information regarding the agency events.
Thanks to everyone that participated in the Walk For Warmth- it was a very cold morning! The money collected from both events (West Branch & Virtual) will be used to help keep families warm in 6 different counties.
Once every decade, the U.S. Census works to count every person living in the United States. Every Michigander needs to be counted because census numbers affect everyone in Michigan - including seniors, students, kids, parents, businesses and communities. Money allocated by the Census makes up a large portion of state budgets and goes to programs for under-served communities, including many people that participate with NEMCSA's many programs.

NEMCSA’s Early Childhood Services Director Tricia Grifka recently traveled to Washington, DC for the National Head Start Association’s Winter Leadership Institute. While in Washington, Tricia joined over 500 Head Start families, alumni and staff from almost all 50 states on Capitol Hill to speak with elected representatives about the positive impact Head Start has on so many families across the country and to encourage continued support for trauma initiatives.  Michigan Head Start Directors and staff met with Congressman John Moolenaar and staff for Senator Gary Peters and Congressman Andy Levin.
