NEMCSA staff are doing cool things!!!

Early Head Start staff Elizabeth Gross, Gina Palazzo-Slayton and Melanie Downing wore Volley For a Cure shirts to support their rival volley ball game last month.  All proceeds from the shirts worn went for cancer research. Mio and Fairview have been doing this for several years and it is a great rivalry that comes together for something positive!
The 17th Annual Walk against Homelessness and Hunger in Alpena raised over $2,000 that will be utilized for homeless needs for the Northeast Counties. NEMCSA staffed joined with other volunteers for this great event!
Michelle Koin, Early Head Start Team Leader for Bay and Arenac Counties, and Niki Napolitano, Early Childhood Special Education Supervisor at the Bay-Arenac ISD, were presented with 150 Lock Boxes from Barry Schmidt the Coordinator of the Bay County Prevention Network and Project Director of the Neighborhood Resource Center. These lock boxes will provide families in our Home Visiting Programs a tool to keep prescription drugs and marijuana out of the hands of young children. Barry Schmidt “This funding is putting Prevention into Practice and partnered with NEMCSA Early Head Start and the Bay-Arenac ISD, programs that make a difference in the lives of families.”

Let us introduce you to NEMCSA's RSVP team!

Susan Bowen has been with NEMCSA since October 2000 and recently took the role of RSVP Project Director in January 2019. With volunteering and community service always being an important part of her life, she fits right in. She loves sharing the joy of community building with others.
Before coming to NEMCSA in September 2018, Rick served 22 years on active duty with the Coast Guard. His final duty stations brought him to northern Michigan nearly 14 years ago. Carrying a strong belief in public service, he has worked closely with both public officials and private citizens of each community he called “home.” Rick loves getting to know new people, hearing about their life experiences, and finding positive ways for them to serve their community.
Join us in welcoming AMY to the team!

Amy is the newest member to the team and is RSVP Service Coordinator for the southern counties. She has had a busy first few weeks getting settled in at the Prudenville office. Amy comes to NEMCSA with tons of experience, energy, and excitement. We're just as excited to have her on the team!

RSVP is one of three Senior Corp Volunteer Programs that are available through NEMCSA. For more information about Volunteering, check this out!
