WHAT'S NEW!

TEAM UP WITH SPORTS CAMPS AUSTRALIA

Fully supported by BMXA, these camps are available for current members or new members, who you can then convert to members of your club!

INTERESTED?

Check out the SCA website or contact them directly through Andrea Krapf -  andrea@sportscampsaustralia.com.au, letting them know you are a BMXA Club.

Castle Hill BMX Club, Sydney BMX Club, Bayside BMX Club, Casey BMX Club and Ballarat-Sebastopol BMX Club have already dipped their toes into this!

You can also call or email BMXA for more information: development@bmxaustralia.com.au

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO!

SCA will need a coach to be appointed as the Camp Director and also require the use of your track for the camp.

You'll need to sign an agreement with SCA to run the camp - they have a format they like to use which is tried and tested!

If you would like a copy of the SCA/BMXA Club Agreement, just let us know!

WHAT YOU GET!

  • SCA will provide marketing support for your camp in schools, local councils  (where the schools and council permit) and targeted social media.
  • BMXA will provide support through promotion of your camp on our website, social media and The Dirt.
  • SCA provides all the insurance plus a branded marketing package for use at the Camp.
  • 60% of the revenue from the Camp - a great way to fund-raise for your Club or for your Coaches to earn some $$$$$$!

WHEN - ACT NOW TO PLAN FOR JANUARY 2019!

SCA suggests you hold your camp from January 10, 2019. As they like to market to schools eight weeks prior to the end of the school term if you're interested you need to sign up as soon possible. This makes sure your camp can be strongly promoted.

COACHES UPDATES

COACHING ATTIRE

Coaches are major role models for their athletes and as part of their accreditation, are expected to be suitably (and safely) clothed.

When demonstrating on a bike, coaches should wear approved riding attire while coaching off a bike requires covered shoes as the minimum safety requirement.

BEGINNER AND LVL 1 COACH UPDATES

BMXA has recently reviewed the skills that a Beginner and Level 1 BMXA Coach can coach. The changes are:

1. Pumping and manualling included in Rider for Fun (BEG) rather than Riding to Race.
2. Pro-jumping moved to Riding to Race (level 1) rather than Racing to Win (level 2) - due to 14-year olds being able to pro-jump, so they need to learn from coaches.
