WYNDHAM'S WARRIOR GRABS W5 IN DAY 4 OF ZOLDER

COVER PIC: Craig Dutton Photography

Victoria’s Jamie Truran has claimed a world no.5 plate during the fourth day of the 2019 UCI BMX World Championships in Heusden-Zolder.

The day was in stark contrast to the last three, as temperatures were cooler and a significantly smaller contingent of riders were in action ahead of practice for the championship classes later in the afternoon.

Australia had a 16-man team on show but Truran (pictured) was the only rider to make it into the finals.

Competing in the 35 & over men’s 20inch, the Wyndham Warrior had been performing consistently well in the lead up to the deciding race, placing either first or second in all of his laps.

Producing a powerful gate start in the final, the Aussie looked like he would slot into a strong position at the end of the first straight but was stopped in his tracks when a rival came down in front of him, effectively eliminating his chances of finishing in the top three.
