Backpacks, BBQ and Blessings

This Sunday, you're invited to bring your backpack (or laptop case, or diaper bag, or purse...) to be blessed, in our time of worship for all ages together. AND, plan to stay a little longer for a fantastic barbeque, along with the musical stylings of the Capital City Syncopators!

We are also beginning a special 8-week series called "The Way of Love: Practices of Jesus-Centred Life". It's based on the popular (or at least, controversial!) sermon preached at the "royal wedding" last May. We'll consider what some of the practices are that help us keep our eyes focused on God, our feet on the right path, and our hearts and minds open to experience God's love, power, presence and challenge.

What does it mean to you, to live a "Jesus-Centred" life? What practices ground you, nurture you, and challenge you in living that way? What gets in the way?

When you arrive, you'll notice there are two new special corners in our worship space, called "Cuddle Corners". The Cuddle corners are just for little ones who need a comfy place to be snuggled and for nursing/feeding caregivers. (The former nursery space has been transformed into our Godly Play Chapel.) We're experimenting with this new use of space for the next four months. Please give your feedback to members of the Sacred Space Committee (Dawn Williamson is the chairperson).

Beginnings and endings and beginnings again... we're sad that this will be Tressa Brotsky's final service as the Children and Family Ministry Coordinator, and glad that she'll still be in the office organizing and prepping until September 28. (We'll be holding a special celebration to thank Tressa for her creative and visionary leadership after church on Sunday, October 14, so mark your calendars!) And we're glad that she'll continue to be a keen and committed member of our congregation, along with her kids.

Backpacks, BBQ and blessings...what could be better?

See you in church!
