the Way of Love: Worship

"Shout to God, all the earth: worship with gladness and joy!"

This Sunday we continue our series called, "The Way of Love: Practices for Jesus-Centred Life",

The practice we'll be exploring this week is "WORSHIP: gather weekly to thank, praise and dwell with God."

In the story of our faith
in Luke 4:16-21, we'll accompany Jesus to worship with his community of faith, "as was his custom". Throughout the gospels, we read of Jesus taking time to pray alone, yet he also was a faithful attender of weekly synagogue worship. What difference does regular community worship make in your life? What makes communal worship different from your private prayer or devotional time? What communal worship practices move you to encounter God, and to be more firmly woven into the church, "the body of Christ"?

After worship, please stay and help celebrate, thank and bless Tressa Brotsky, for her four years of ministry as our Coordinator of Children and Family Ministry! We'll celebrate with food and drink, song, and expressions of gratitude for all she has brought to this community of faith. (You can still make a contribution to a gift, with Rev. Michelle or Jacquie Schaus, on Sunday).

We are also thrilled to welcome our new part-time Minister of Pastoral Care, the Rev. Dr. Susanne Abbuhl, who just started work with us this past week.

Of course, there will be spirited singing, heart-felt prayer, warm hospitality, and the company of others on the Way of Love.

See you in church!

~ Rev. Michelle

This Week in Our Children and Youth Ministries...

Our age-specific children and youth Sunday ministries are offered this Sunday! We gather at 10am for prayer, song, sacred story, reflection and response (for about 20 minutes), before being invited to move to separate places and ways of being together.

Preschool Church will be led by Rhiannon, Reyna and Frances, Children's Church will be led by Pam and Jasmine, and Youth Church will be led by Zach.

More details about our fab children and youth ministry are here. Check the church calendar for our youth events, and check out our general youth group page here.

Ministry and Personnel News

The M & P team would like to you welcome Rev. Dr. Susanne Abbuhl as our new part-time Pastoral Care Minister. She comes to us from Oshawa as a recently retired minister, who is returning to her BC roots. She comes highly recommended and we are already getting to know her and enjoy her warmth and  gentle humour. M & P would like to thank the selection team of Carol Martin, Beth Bourke, Neil Mossie and Rev. Michelle for their work, wisdom and prayer that lead them to find and select our fantastic new minister.
