"Lord, teach us to pray..."

This Sunday we continue our special series called, "The Way of Love: Practices for Jesus-Centred Life".

The practice we'll be exploring this week is "PRAY: Dwell intentionally with God each day".

In the story of our faith, we'll hear Jesus teaching his disciples to pray, in Luke 11:1-13. He teaches them (and us) "the Lord's Prayer", also called "the Prayer of Jesus", and encourages them to ask for what they need in prayer.

This Sunday, we'll explore what prayer is and what it is for. What is prayer, to you? Is it more about speaking to God, or listening to God? What types of prayer have you tried, and what works to help you really experience God's presence? As the last two weeks, I'll give you a week's worth of experiments to try, of different ways of "dwelling" in God's presence.

We are also welcoming some special guests to worship! Our friend Carolyn Burns, Director of the Ukulapha Community Outreach Project in South Africa, is back in Victoria for a visit and to raise funds for the project. And, for the first time, we will welcome Mr. Thamsanqa Msomi, the Principal of Slansgspruit Primary School, which the project supports. Mr. Msomi will share with us a little bit about what progress has been made for the children in Slangspruit township, as well as some news about our high school scholarship student, Asanda.

Of course, there will be spirited singing, heart-felt prayer, warm hospitality, and the company of others on the Way of Love - this Sunday, and every Sunday.

See you in church!

~ Rev. Michelle

This Week in Our Children and Youth Ministries...

Our age-specific children and youth Sunday ministries are offered this Sunday! We gather at 10am for prayer, song, sacred story, reflection and response (for about 20 minutes), before being invited to move to separate places and ways of being together.

Preschool Church will be led by Shannon and Frances, Children's Church will be led by Karla, and Youth Church will be led by Zach.

More details about our fab children and youth ministry are here. Check the church calendar for our youth events, and check out our general youth group page here.
