It has been was such a busy time for the SDG community! Special events and exhibitions at the UN Climate Change Conference along with the launch of the top SDG gathering - the next Global Festival of Action for Sustainable Development - and the new Awards UN SDG Action Challenge.

SDG stakeholders from across the world can now register their interest to attend the Global Festival of Action for Sustainable Development on 21-23 March 2018 in Bonn, Germany. The next edition will recognize outstanding achievements to promote action on the SDGs with the UN SDG Action Challenge Awards.

Applications are open until Jan 15. Join us in shaping the top SDG gathering or be recognized gobally!

As climate change soars to the top of people's priorities, SDGs and climate action are interlinked at the heart of COP23  

The UN SDG Action Campaign joined COP23 for two busy weeks in Bonn: Two special events covered the use of technology to uplift indigenous voices and shift climate narratives, innovative leadership in driving action for climate change. Watch the video. The Humans of my World exhibition brought the stories of millions of individuals to COP23 participants, the  United Nations Virtual Reality series attracted several visitors, who shared their perceptions on progress through MY World 2030. These came in good timing: the results of the MY World survey showed recently that climate action has soared to one of the top citizen priorities across the globe.

 

The Climate Planet, a 20m globe at COP23, hosted a forum where 10 Innovators presented transformative solutions to achieve a zero emissions world and make the SDGs a reality. Inside the large globe, a 4m globe showed projections and views of the earth taken by NASA. Around the Planet, the SDGs where showcased in innovative and interactive ways to thousands of participants. 

SDGs, focus for global education actors at Doha

With more than 260 million children and young people out of school today, and only one per cent of young refugees able to access higher education, there were warnings that the SDGs will not be achieved if young people are denied quality education.Global education actors gathered at the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) in Doha to discuss solutions.

How is Belgium implementing the SDGs?

Not only the Monarchy of Belgium was under the spotlight during the past weeks. On 23 November, representatives a one-day inter-ministerial conference tackled how Belgium can implement the Agenda 2030 and oversee a transformative multi-stakeholder approach
 

German Sustainability Award honours SDG Advocate Queen Mathilde of Belgium

Queen Mathilde of Belgium received this years’ honorary prize by the the 10th German Sustainability Award, among exemplary businesses, municipalities and research projects at the forefront of sustainability. Participants had a multitude of experiences to connect with the sustainable development goals in the “SDG Hub”.

First My World scientific survey in the Philippines

A representative survey made possible by PepsiCo and Paragon Partnerships with the UN SDG Action Campaign asked 10,000 Filipinos about their awareness of the SDGs and their perception on global issues. Read more about the conclusions. One tip: more has to be done if we want to achieve the Goals by 2030.
